Dear Members

The club intends to organise a trip to South Korea to take part in an overseas marathon. This is a follow on from the successful trip we had to the Chuncheon Marathon in South Korea in 2016. It’s just a change from the local marathons that we do regularly.

At the same time as taking part in the Marathon (or 5km or 10km Runs or Half Marathon if you wish), a short tour will be incorporated in the trip so that family members or non-running friends can join us.

Also, please note the following :

1.   Expression of interest to join the trip : Please let me know as soon as possible if you are considering to take part, so that we can have an idea whether this project will take off or not.
2.   Tour booking closing date : 1st February 2017.
3.   Marathon Registration closing date : 24th February 2017.
4.   The remaining full tour package is payable before 1st March 2017.

Free Lucozade Sport shirts

Members of Pacesetters Athletic Club

Re: Lucozade Pacesetters Co-Branding Shirts

We refer to our memo dated 15 June 2016 where we announced Lucozade Sport as the official sports drink of the club with effect from 10 June 2016. We also carried a co-branding exercise with Lucozade by providing a set of shirts / singlets to 138 members taking part in the SCKLM (7 Aug16), Kuching Marathon (14 Aug16), PUMA Night Run (20 Aug16), PJ Half Marathon (21 Aug16) and Penang Bridge International Marathon (27 Nov 16). We now have about 60 sets of shirts remaining of limited sizes. We like to offer this to our members who have missed the earlier program but have signed up for the Penang Bridge International Marathon (other events are not eligible). This offer is based on available sizes on a first come first serve basis.

Details as follows:
  • This program is opened to all existing and new members of the club. Members whose membership expired on 30 June 2016 will need to renew their membership to be eligible.
  •  You are eligible to join this program provided you have registered for the Penang Bridge International Marathon.
  •  Your obliged to wear the singlet at the Penang Bridge International Marathon and the round neck T after the event. In addition, you are encouraged to wear these shirts during your training runs.
  • We are expected to issue these shirts on Sundays after our runs between 8.30am to 9.00am from the car-park behind Petronas Station, Sri Hartamas (Jalan Sri Hartamas 7, in front of Loh & Loh Construction Bhd). The last day for collection of the shirts is on 20 November 2016, one week before the PBIM.
  • Email to johnsonlim@gmail.com your confirmation slip of your registration of the Penang Bridge International Marathon. Also provide us your name, PAC membership no & expiry date, email address, HP No, Round Neck T-shirt size and Male or Female Singlet size.

The deadline for submission is on 18 November 2016. After this date we will not entertain any submission for this program. We shall notify you on the allocation via email. We look forward to your participation in this co-branding exercise and become a brand ambassador for the club.

For details and sizing of the shirts, see our old post.

Largest crowd at club's Breakfast Run

A record number of 220 runners, of which 120 were guests, came for the club’s Breakfast Run on 4th September 2016 at Taman Botani Kepong. It was heartening to see quite a number of young children. A large part of the route was on off-road, quiet, leafy FRIM trials, surrounded by tall trees. The rest of the route was on tarmac and the whole route was free of motorised traffic, although there were a few mountain bikers. For the 9km route, maybe half the distance was on FRIM trials, which started with a long steep climb. Many decided to walk up this part. The trails are all relatively wide, able to accommodate a least 3 runners abreast, so there was always space for those wanting to jog up, to pass those walking.

At RM5 per non member, and free for members, the club’s Breakfast Runs are arguably one of the best value runs. After the run, we had breakfast of fried chicken, mee, nasi lemak, fried eggs, fruits, kuih, Wan Yew Leong’s iconic teh tarik, water and Lucozade.

Vice president Munning, with the help of Chun Yin, was on the back of his pick up truck distributing the club’s new yellow vests and T shirts. EXCO Sunny, helped by Dorothy, sold 46 surplus PAC 2015 4X3km Relay T shirts for about RM345.

Many thanks to the EXCO for putting together this run. Thanks also to Shook Fun’s mother, whom I noticed helping with the full, large garbage bags after many runners had left.
